INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION FOR HOME ECONOMICS ANNOUNCES WORLD CONGRESS XXIV
Every four years IFHE hosts a World Congress. The International Federation for Home Economics is the only world-wide organization focused on home economics. It is an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO), having consultative status with the United Nations (ECOSOC, FAO, UNESCO, UNICEF). For more information go to: www.ifhe.org. The theme for 2020 is: ”Home Economics: Soaring Towards Sustainable Development”. The tentative program (July 2018) includes educators’ pre congress, plenary sessions, concurrent sessions (84 with symposiums and workshops), Expo and poster sessions together, university reunions, Learning Day on the Move with speaker and Home Visits. The program, under construction, focuses on five UN sustainable development goals identified by IFHE: no poverty, good health and well-being, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, responsible consumption and production. Science and technology will be integrated throughout the systems (human and political, economic, food, environmental, health) model approach examining sustainability, civil and human rights, human impact and systemic actions. The World Congress will convene in Atlanta, Georgia, from August 2 through August 8, 2020, at the Hyatt Regency in the heart of the downtown/convention district, where many venues and restaurants are in walking distance, and public transportation facilitates travel to and from the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International airport.
